Young tailors eager to know the textile industry

The TVET (Biwe) Partnership Project organized a study tour in the textile industries in Kigali, including: DIKAM, New Kigali Designers, Africa Uniforms and Maxima Plus.

According to the Local Project Assistant Françoise Mutoneshe, the one-day study tour aimed to open the minds of the youth that led them to work hard to accomplish their dreams.

"Young tailor graduates are visiting the textile industries with the aim of learning more about how others work and inspiring our youth to be determined and change their livelihoods and the community at large," Ms. Mutoneshe said.

Christine Nyiramana from Byumba Location said that the study tour taught her to have a mission and to work hard in order to be successful in life. "We have been inspired by the owners of the industries and most of them reiterated to have a mission so that we can achieve what we want in future."

Akwiyinkindi Ruth from Kayonza District said that visiting the textile industries was a privilege for her. “This visit has opened our minds and inspired us to have goals in life”.
TVET is expected to contribute to the creation of 1,500,000 off-farm jobs by 2024 as projected in the Rwandan National Transformation Strategy 1 (NST1).

The TVET-BiWe Partnership Project is implemented since November 2017 with the funds of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through sequa gGmbH and under the management of BildungsWerk der Baden-Württembergischen Wirtschaft e.V (BiWe).
