MPs from Norway courtesy Visit to SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda

SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda received a delegation of seven (7) Members of Parliament from Norway that participated in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Rwanda.
The Head of the delegation Hon. Mørland Inge said, “SOS Children’s Villages in Norway is very reliable Organization with a noble cause of taking care of vulnerable children and young people. Our visit is to see if SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda does the same and understand pressing needs of its beneficiaries.”

In response to Morland Inge’s affirmative statement of SOS Children’s Villages in Norway works, Jean Bosco Kwizera, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda emphasized that SOS Children’s Villages interventions are aligned with SOS federation’s strategic action of ensuring all children have home belonging and as well support vulnerable families eradicate poverty as we contribute to SDGs.

Also, in presentation made by the Head of the Project and RBM George Gakuba, highlighted the interventions of SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda including alternative care, Family Strengthening, Advocacy and partnerships for quality care among others.

He added that SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda supports 92,021 beneficiaries across the country. The invited two youth representatives Benise and Yves shared an excellent story of how SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda family like care model helped them to have hope and a place to call home.

The delegation also visited 12th Family House in Kigali Location where the SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda is doing rehabilitation for nine Children from the street situation and a Small Group Home of four siblings supported by SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda located in Kibagabaga, City of Kigali.

In his remarks after the visit, the Head of the delegation Hon. Mørland Inge said that they were very inspired by the work of SOS Children’s Villages in Rwanda, which is mostly giving hope to vulnerable children, youth and families, and also supporting the families to become self-reliant and resilient.

“This has really made a strong impression to us and will stay as a highlight on our trip to Rwanda. We wish you the best for years to come giving shelter to the children and prepare for their success and good life.” Mørland Inge. The IPU’s 145th assembly, drawn 1,000 delegates from 148 parliaments across the world.
